Jaklyn and I have decided that buying a van to convert into our new home is the right decision for us. It will be a year before we can do it most likely but that is our new goal. We still plan to travel overseas but having the option to come home to the states and have a place to live that is cheap and mobile is a big plus in our book.
We are still researching ways to make the majority of our income while on the road. We have a couple of ideas for side gigs that we are working on such as hand made crafts, blogging/vlogging and photography.
To that end, I bought a camera! I realize that it will take plenty of practice and it’s a very crowded market. I also know that I have a decent eye and a passion for the art so giving that a go, even if I only end up with great pics for the blog is worthwhile!
We also have a new logo for the blog, I haven’t posted it yet and there will be a simpler version for everyday use but a close friend of mine is learning graphic design and did a really nice job in putting it together in less than a day.
Location independence is a great goal that we are working hard towards. It’s tough with full time jobs to put in the necessary effort to get there. We are getting better and better at staying focused on our goals and hope that by midsummer we have concrete plans for how we will earn our living in the future. We are comfortable right now with where we are at and where we are heading and still plan to travel before we hit the road full time.
Things are starting to move and the fear of the unknown is changing into excitement! Eighteen months from now we hope to be finalizing our efforts to transition to our new life and be on the road by september of 2022.
In the next update I hope to lay out an outline for how we are going to make this happen, give a little bit of background on who we are and where we are at now and set a timeline for where we want to be progress wise over the next 18 to 24 months.
Thanks for reading and I hope you will continue to ride with us!
